What is an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)?

The National Education Association suggests that an effective AUP contain the following six key elements:

• a preamble,
• a definition section,
• a policy statement,
• an acceptable uses section,
• an unacceptable uses section, and
• a violations/sanctions section.
